My work provides me with an opportunity to both earn a living and to enter more concretely into the daily life and culture of this people. The situation is increasingly dismal with my salary getting lower and lower. For me, persevering in solidarity with all the workers here, most of whom have very low salaries, and hoping that one day it will get better, is like being a night watchman who waits for the dawn. It has given me a reason for staying here. Many times, I have felt our mission very deeply, the importance of our presence in the midst of the world. It means living and suffering with those I am with, carrying them in our hearts and in our prayers and trying to "stand up" in faith, hope and trust in God our Father who heals us and saves us. But sometimes it is so heavy, so I just wait in silence. We live Holy Saturday for all our countries. I have seen the sun go down and fade away, but I hope and would like to see it rise. And if I want to see it, I must look to its horizon: the Resurrection!
